We're Here - Part 1

The Flight

Raleigh/Durham to Washington D.C. to Vienna, Austria to Pristina, Kosova.

Total flight time including layovers: 19 hours.

Lindsey and I, along with all of our bags (12 in all), arrived safe and sound in Pristina, Kosova's capital, the afternoon of February 3rd.  Our flight was rather uneventful, except for one noteworthy event.  For those who follow the NBA, you've probably heard of Gheorghe Muresan.  Standing at 7' 7", Muresan was one of the tallest men to play in the NBA.  Naturally, someone of his height is a bit hard to miss.  He graciously spoke with me for a few moments, wished us the best in our missionary work and signed the back of one of my boarding passes...couldn't find anything else at the time.

Currently...

Since we arrived we've been staying with missionaries, Randy and Linda Pyle.  One aspect of their ministry here in Peje is housing teams that come for short term trips.  In fact, we stayed here for a night during our trip to Kosova back in 2007.

We're living out of a few space bags and our carry on bags while we find our home for the next two years.  We've looked at a few places already and will be looking at more tomorrow.  One place is pretty high on our list.  The setup is quite similar to when we stayed with Lindsey's parents the last six months before we left.  We would occupy the first floor which has one bedroom, bath, full kitchen with space for table and chairs and a living room.  The two balconies on our level with beautiful views of the mountains are a plus as well.  Living upstairs are a couple of sweet Kosovar "empty nesters".  We're hoping to be in our new place and beginning to get set up and settled in the coming week.  We are thankful for all of you that are praying for us as we realize that even where we live has already been chosen by God for a specific purpose in His overall plan for us.

This concludes, Part 1.  In the coming week, we'll share with you what we've observed so far; the people, getting around, the food, etc...

We'll leave you with a few choice photos we've taken over the past couple of days.  We can't thank you enough for lifting us up in prayer as the Spirit leads you.  Pray for continued physical strength as we get over this jet lag thing, wisdom in selecting the right place to live and for clear direction as to how we would serve the Kosovar people here as there is truly much work to be done here.

Stay tuned for Part 2!

God Bless You!
