SANDSTON, Va. - About 20 members of the Virginia National Guard are being mobilized for deployment to Kosovo.
The soldiers are members of the Sandston-based Detachment 2, Company B, 777th Aviation Support Battalion.
The Guard says the soldiers will support NATO's peacekeeping mission as an aviation maintenance unit. The soldiers will train at Camp Atterbury, Ind., and in Germany for about two months before deploying to Kosovo.
Capt. Michael H. Gregory, the detachment's commander, says this is the detachment's first deployment.
The unit includes soldiers from the Richmond area, central Virginia, northern Virginia and the Hampton Roads area.
A departure ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m Sunday at the Army Aviation Support Facility in Sandston
