KOSOVSKA MITROVICA (AFP) — Kosovo's president appealed for calm Saturday after seven firefighters were injured in one of two explosions that shook this ethnically divided northern city, police said.
NATO's KFOR peacekeeping force and the European Union's EULEX mission to Kosovo also reinforced their presence in the city's ethnic Albanian Bosnjacka Mahala neighbourhood where the second explosion took place, police spokesman Besim Hoti told AFP.
KFOR and EULEX issued an appeal for calm and warned that any violence would draw a stern response.
They called on "all people of Mitrovica and from all other areas of Kosovo to stay calm and to stop all violent actions.
