Some of NC's Finest Returning from Kosovo

A small North Carolina National Guard explosives disposal unit is returning home after a year in Kosovo as part of a NATO force.

The 13-member 430th Explosive Ordinance Disposal team is scheduled to return to its Greenville armory for a welcome home ceremony Thursday afternoon.

Members of the team were mobilized last July. In Kosovo, the unit was based at Camp Bondsteel and destroyed more than 2,000 pieces of ammunition and more than 30 weapons.

The unit also conducted 112 classes for local school children in how to recognize land mines and unexploded ammunition as well as training more than 3,200 soldiers in handling unexploded ordnance.
